Course Description

In this course, we will study the history and culture of slavery from a comparative perspective. Delving into the vast historiography on this subject (including both classic texts and new works), we will consider how scholars have investigated and interpreted the role of slavery in different regions and cultural contexts in North America and the greater Caribbean from the colonial era to the early 19th century.
