Course Description

Sociolinguistics focuses on language, culture, and society, expanding on the role of language in power, ethnic, gender, generational, and ideological relationships. Analyses of regional differences, language change and loss, and multilingualism. For all students but of special interest to linguistics majors. Total of 54 hours lecture.
