Course Description

What is gender? This course examines sociological perspectives on what it means to be a woman, man, or nonbinary in everyday life - including gender as a social institution, an identity, and something people ¿do". This class will explore the ways that gender is experienced differently in intersection with other identities (for example, race/ethnicity, class, age, sexuality, etc.) and the persistence of gender inequality. Possible topics include: language, the body, science, the wage gap, education, and masculinity.
