Course Description

In this course, sociological perspectives will be used to understand social problems in the United States and selected world societies. The course will focus on social institutions and the problems and inequalities they produce, including racism, sexism, poverty, crime, violence, terrorism, medical crises, crimes against the environment, and white-collar crime. Emphasis will also include the dynamics of the social construction of social problems and debates related to addressing and solving social problems. . • ENGLC1000 or ENG 101 with a grade of C or better or equivalent
