Course Description
Why is Congo so important in today’s world? What lies beyond the minerals powering the green revolution? This course delves into the politics, culture, and history of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and offers unique engagement with a global country through its own people. Learners will read a range of Congolese fiction and political analysis on human rights in conflict from across Africa’s second largest country. This course offers interdisciplinary engagement in and explanations of why democracy and decolonization have been delayed for the Congolese people.
