Course Description
A critical analysis of the social and scientific foundations of racial, ethnic and gender-based inequities in the U.S. Topics include implicit bias, stereotype threat, use of race, gender, or similar categories in science, and so forth. The course highlights often-overlooked contributions of prominent scientists from under-represented or minoritized groups. Upon completion, students will be able to identify practices, policies and institutional structures that inhibit diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and know how to engage in practices that support DEI in such settings.
